Spring 2018 | Dr. Kara Taczak
Writ 1133, as a research and writing course, asked us to design and carry out a research question (on anything). My project probed a modern dilemma: why is bad fanfiction made into films?

In research form: is there a connection between recent film adaptions of fanfiction works and is the fanfiction community the source of the trend and, what the fanfiction community’s attitude is to these film adaptions? At the time of researching and publication, Fifty Shades of Grey was the infamous exhibit of such a trend, so that is what the majority of the article concerns. These questions are-admittendly- nearly impossible to pursue for a research paper. However, the article is valuable to me as a my first foray into the highs and lows of research gathering. I also had the opportunity to interview media studies legend Henry Jenkins ( Twitter harassment works folks!)
